Count Up Subtraction

Students create an open number line, place the smaller of the two numbers on the left and the larger of the two on the right. Then they jump count (how every they want) until they get to the larger number. Basically you are adding from the small to the large to get the difference. It is the exact same as how we have done elapsed time. 

End of Week 1

What a great first week (even though it was shorter)! We did a lot of team building and activities to help get everyone back into school mode. We will be starting the curriculum next week so be aware there will be a spelling list and homework (we haven't fully decided on homework yet). I will be posting assignments and my weekly newsletter on Monday!! 

Week 1

This week we will be doing a lot of team building and "get to know you" and "get to know the classroom" activities. My goal this week is to make sure everyone is comfortable, informed, and excited about the year! Next week we will jump right into our curriculum.
